How you respond to them is primarily, if not wholly, in your control.
You can shift your mindset around any food from c-a-n-t to can.

There’s a multi-billion dollar food industrial complex behind this.
Too Much Restriction.
If you think you can never have a cookie, you will want one.
It’s Available.
Remember Berardi’s First Law?
Poor Sleep.
We make poor decisions when tired.
High Stress.
We make poor decisions when frazzled.
Imbalanced Diet.
We make poor decisions when hungry.
You’re Thirsty.
We often confuse thirst for hunger.
Emotional Regulation.
We often eat for comfort, reward, loneliness, etc.
Culture & Environment.
We face generations of tradition and family tension.
I could write a newsletter, essay, or book about each.
One of the most common exercises I do with clients who struggle here is some form of a reflective journal.
For example, you might jot down what you were thinking, doing, and feeling in the hours before an event and look for patterns.
