What's Your Morning Routine?
Mine is 'Antifragile.'

Despite what certain influencers may want you to believe, you do not need to have a 4-hour morning routine that requires the purchase of a sauna, cold plunge, specialized light or sound devices, and expensive supplements.
But getting your mind and body ready to go is important.

The Big Picture 🖼️
Can things you hear about on social media, podcasts, and at the water cooler be helpful to start your day?
Things like:
Low-level sunlight
Meditation & journaling
Hydration
Exercise
Cold showers
Doom scrolling on your phone
Yes, they can.
Except for the last one.
Except … the rest are only helpful until they are not.
Too much is too much.
There’s a minimum effective dose …
… and a maximum one too.
Explain It To Me Like I’m 5 👦
Today’s topic, as simply as possible:
“Not too much, not too little.”

The Bare Minimum ⌚️
Yes, I have an ‘ideal’ 10+ step AM routine.
If I’m not pressed for time, that can take 2 hours.
If I didn’t have to work as much, I might even add some more.
But here’s the thing:
On days when I am pressed for time, I can check my most important boxes in mere minutes.
For example, I might:
Skip seated meditation completely and do a walking meditation on the go.
Not brew my own coffee and grab one on the go.
Do five minutes of mobility and zero other intentional exercise.
Sneak in other intentional exercise later in the day.
Do a seated meditation before bed.
Completely ditch the entire usual routine and wing it - make time for alternate versions of key elements during the work day.
I have few ‘non-negotiables’ such as: hydration, movement, and meditation but those can take many different forms and durations.
So, in my humble opinion, while it is important to create an ‘ideal’ routine and be consistent with it …
… it’s just as important not to be completely frazzled or frustrated when you need it to bend.
Build in flexibility.
Build in a minimum acceptable amount.
Don’t let your routine become a prison.

A simple word, phrase, or thought to take with you:
Your routine should energize you and not make you feel bad if you have to change it.
