Part I: Why I'm here today.

Last week’s email, ‘Who Should You Listen To?’, got 5X more clicks than any of my previous emails.

You wanted to see who I follow on Instagram!

That got me thinking.

I wasn’t following those people at the beginning of my Journey.

Who played a part early in my Journey?

The Big Picture 🖼

My first milestone nutritional mentor was Robb Wolf.

His book The Paleo Solution came out in 2010.

After reading it, I took his 30-day Paleo Challenge, and a few things happened:

  • I ate whole, unprocessed, home-cooked food 100% of the time.

  • I removed all gluten, grains, & dairy for the whole month.

  • I learned how to cook.

  • I felt and looked better than I ever had previously.

This was a significant milestone … but I didn’t start there.

You Have To Be Ready

I was not ready to do that Challenge in 2000 or 2005.

In 2000, I had recently failed college and was in the worst shape of my life.

In 2005, I was rebuilding my work, personal life, and relationships.

I had significant milestones in other areas of health before 2010.

I’m talking about Deep Health.

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5 👦

Today’s topic, as simply as possible:

“Start where you are.”

Deep Health Is Everything. 🌟

When I thought about that list of Instagram accounts, I wondered:

Where do I fit in there as a Nutrition Coach?

The answer was obvious. It’s in the story of my Journey.

In 2000, I was so low that I had zero hope.

I had given up.

It took a very clever doctor to convince me to take my first step towards healing - a significant mental milestone.

Having come a long way, I firmly believe that:

  • No matter how dark things seem, there is always a path to light.

  • The more difficult the challenge, the greater the opportunity for transformation.

  • There is almost always a change you can make.

So that’s my thing: change.

As much as I love talking about food, fitness, philosophy, chess, and soccer …

… I’m all about helping you make a deep, personal transformation.
