What do you do for breakfast?

Is breakfast ‘the most important meal of the day’?

For you younger folk, that was a common saying before the year 2000, before Instagram, TikTok, and Intermittent Fasting became popular.

It depends, as usual.

Some people swear that intermittent fasting is the only way to go.

If I.F. or T.R.E. work for you, great!

However, many people:

  • Enjoy breakfast foods

  • Feel better when they eat breakfast

  • Are much more likely to adhere to a long-term plan that includes breakfast.

So, let’s look at some good options!

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5 👦

Today’s topic, as simply as possible:

“Breakfast is an important meal for many people, but not all.”

(My modern take on that phrase we grew up with 🙂 )

If Your Breakfast Needs An Upgrade 🧁

The truth is that many people grab a sugary coffee plus a pastry (or something similar) and repeat that every day (for years) because it’s easy.

But you can slowly ‘turn the dial’ one notch at a time on that.

Breakfast Options 🍳

5 × 15-20 Minute Breakfasts:

Omelet with veggies (pre-cooked)

Scrambled eggs with sautéed veggies

Burrito with scrambled eggs & veggies (pre-cooked)

Sweet potato (pre-cooked) hash with greens

Quinoa (pre-cooked) bowl with sautéed greens and eggs

5 × 10-15 Minute Breakfasts:

Avocado toast

Greek yogurt with granola

Smoothie (pre-cut &/or frozen fruits/veggies)

Cottage cheese with pre-cut fruit

Pre-cooked frittata slices

5 × 0-5 Minute Breakfasts:

Overnight oats (pre-cooked)

Protein bar and banana

Grab-and-go smoothie (store-bought)

Whole-grain toast with almond butter

Hard-boiled eggs (pre-cooked)

Don’t forget: ANY leftovers or other kinds of food will do.

You don’t have to always eat ‘traditional American breakfast foods’ for breakfast.
