What's Your Model For Health?

If you don't have one, this email will help!

It’s almost Christmas Eve, the end of 2023, and there’s no better time to think about your model of health for 2024 and beyond.

If you don’t yet have a model for your health, this email will help:

  1. The Big Picture 🖼️

  2. Explain It To Me Like I’m 5 👦

  3. Some Visuals 🎨

  4. No Thing Is Separate. ☸️

  5. Parting Zen 🧘‍♂️

The Big Picture 🖼️

Every nutrition school or certification I've done, as well as just about every mentor I've read, followed, or incorporated into my approach (of which there are many) …

... has a model for health.

Each model is split into different 'key areas' and varies.

For example:

  • The Institute for Integrative Nutrition slices Health into 12 key areas and displays it graphically as 'The Circle Of Life'’ like a pizza.

  • Precision Nutrition teaches 6 Key Areas of 'Deep Health.'

  • The CHEK Institute teaches 'The 4 Doctors' approach.

They often use different words to label the same concept.

If you're new to this concept, you might choose one to focus on.

Over time, some elements may stay with you while you add or discard others … ultimately finding or creating the model that works for you.

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5 👦

Today’s topic, as simply as possible:

“All areas of life are connected.”

Some Visuals 🎨

It helps to see what I’m talking about:

These aren’t the only three good ones out there either!

No Thing Is Separate. ☸️

No key area of your health exists in isolation.

For example:

  • Your Stress is not separate from your Nutrition.

  • Your Environment is not separate from your Happiness.

  • Your Movement is not separate from your Family.

Etc., Etc.

All of these are connected.

When one suffers too much, it drags all of the other down.

Conversely, when you make small improvements in one key area holding you back, you can make major improvements in all other areas as a result.

This is a compelling concept, sometimes called 'Integrative' or 'Holistic.’

Use it to your advantage!

Parting Zen 🧘‍♂️

A simple word, phrase, or thought to take with you:

An honest assessment of where you are holding yourself back can yield major leaps forward.

Be well,
